Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Virginia Department of Transportation (herein referred to as VDOT) is soliciting bids from qualified firms to furnish and Install Snow Plows and Spreaders on VDOT vehicles. VDOT will make necessary arrangements to drop off and pick up vehicles before and after installations. 1. 9.5 Feet Power Angle Snow Plow as per VDOTs Specifications. 1 2. 8.5 Feet Power Angle Snow Plow as per VDOTs Specifications. 2 3. 1.5 Cubic Yard Abrasive Spreader as per VDOTs Specifications. 2 SNOW PLOWS & SPREADERS SPECIFICATIONS: 1. 9.5 FEET POWER ANGLE SNOW PLOW It is the intent of these specifications to describe a power-angle snowplow, hitch and hydraulic system suitable for installation on a 19,500 GVW truck. Installation shall be part of the specifications. For reference, the vehicle is a 2012 Ford F550, (19,500 GVW) 4WD Dump Bed Trucks. Snowplow Moldboard shall be power-angle, 9.5 feet in length, designed so that at full angle the cutting width is approximately 99. The plow must be capable of angle, V, straight and scoop plowing. Moldboard height is to be 30.5 with variation not to exceed 2. Moldboard is to be constructed of not less than 12 gauge steel with at least four vertical ribs on each wing of plow. Unit shall be supplied with two adjustable skid shoes. Curb guards shall be included. Shall have plow markers for each end. A snow shield is to be furnished that will bolt to the top of the moldboard and extend over and in front of the plow. a. BLADE: Plow shall be equipped with a replaceable carbon steel blade, minimum 1/2 X 6. b. AUTOMATIC BOTTOM-TRIP RELEASE: Lower portion of plow shall give way allowing body of plow to remain upright. Each wing of plow shall be fitted with dual springs to return to normal position. c. HITCH: Shall be furnished with a suitable hitch for installation to the vehicle frame/bumper. Hitch shall be designed to adequately support the snowplow during operation and transportation. Hitch shall be designed for quick attachment and detachment of the snowplow. d. HYDRAULIC SYSTEM: Snowplow shall be raised, lowered and angled hydraulically. System shall be complete with hydraulic pump, reservoir, lift and angling cylinders, control valves and hoses with quick disconnects. Unit shall be powered by the vehicles 12 volt DC battery. Shall include cables necessary for installation to vehicle, including an operating control for raising, lowering and angling, suitable for mounting in the vehicle cab. Cables out of the vehicle shall have connectors for ease of removal of snowplow. e. LIGHT KIT: An auxiliary light kit shall be furnished. It shall consist of two halogen headlights with park/signal lights, wiring and switch for connection to vehicle and hardware for mounting to snowplow hitch. f. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: All wiring and connection points shall be done utilizing weathertight heat shrink connectors. All joints between cable and connectors are shall be sealed with silicone sealer. g. REFERENCE MODEL: Unit shall be comparable equivalent to Myer SV9.5 or exceed. h. PAINT: The above unit shall be finished with the manufacturers standard color. i. INSTALLATION: The contractor shall install the unit at their own facility. The vendors facility must be within 25 miles of NOVA District Equipment located at 8011 Mason King Court, Manassas, VA, 20109. Contractor shall contact the Department at 703-366-1971 or 703-366-1976 for scheduling installation. No nights, weekends or holidays will be scheduled. VDOT will make necessary arrangements to drop off and pick up vehicles before and after installation.
