EQUIPMENT TO BE CLEANED: 1. Chemical Spreaders: VDOT spreaders may be cleaned throughout the winter season, and at the end of the winter season to remove accumulated chemicals from the equipment. Some spreaders have engines, and some are hydraulic spreaders. All cleaning work shall be inclusive to include the conveyor regardless of spreader type. In most cases, VDOT will remove the spreader from the vehicle and store on a spreader rack, or they will be hung by chains in spreader shed to facilitate the cleaning process. In some cases, the spreader will have to be cleaned while still installed on the truck. 2. Plows: All snowplows shall be pressure-washed at the end of each winter season to remove accumulated chemicals from the equipment. 3. Heavy Equipment: Heavy equipment including but not limited to 1-ton trucks, single axle dump trucks, tandem axle dump trucks, baby dump trucks, rubber tire loaders, motor graders, and backhoes shall be cleaned throughout the winter season and at the end of the winter season. 4. Passenger Vehicle Exterior: All light duty trucks, including but not limited to pick-up trucks, shall be cleaned throughout, and at the end of, the winter season.
