Specifications include, but are not limited to: i.Contractor’s Capacity to Perform: The Contractor shall provide suitable amounts of equipment to provide up to three (3) crews simultaneously. The Contractor shall have the capability to accurately meter the discharged water and provide manifests to VDOT of the gallons per discharge. The Contractor shall also be able to verify how many gallons are pumped from holding ponds prior to leaving the site and discharging at the wastewater treatment facility. The Contractor shall use a daily ticket that show the date and Area Headquarters of where the work was performed and shall be signed off by the Area Headquarters Superintendent.ii.Frequency of Wastewater Pumping: Pumping will be required when VDOT has determined the holding ponds are a certain level of salinity and/or have surpassed storage capacity. Total gallons pumped and frequency of pumping will vary per Area Headquarters and may depend on rainfall and frequency of snow removal operations. The Contractor may be required to pump all eleven (11) areas within a short time frame, or pumping may be very infrequent.iii.Frequency of Solid Waste Removal: Solid Waste (sludge) removal may be required two (2) times a year, depending on frequency of snow removal operations and rainfall, and could be required more than twice a year at the discretion of VDOT.iv.Handling of Collected Wastewater: All wastewater collected as a result of pumping operations shall be disposed of in accordance with all state and local laws and regulations. The Contractor shall provide a signed manifest form, with a signature from a representative of the disposal facility certifying the proper disposal of wastewater within all Federal, State and Local Law regulations for each load disposed of and invoiced for. The manifest must show where the wastewater was discharged, date of disposal and the total gallons per load. The completed manifests must be submitted with each invoice before payment will be made.v.Handling of Collected Solid Waste: Solid Waste (Sludge) shall be removed using a jet-vac truck once wastewater removal operations have been completed. Solid Waste may only need to be removed periodically, not after every wastewater removal operation.
