Specifications include, but are not limited to: A nurse assigned to MCPS must be either a Registered Nurse, (R.N.) or Licensed Practical Nurse, (L.P.N.) with current Virginia nursing license and recent pediatric nursing experience working within parameters established by Virginia School Health Guidelines. 2.2 The experience required would be pertinent to the assigned student. The agency nurse must be able to recognize respiratory distress and immediately initiate resuscitative measures, such as suctioning, CPR, and reinsertion of tracheotomy tube. Skills in other procedures may be necessary including, but not limited to, any of the following: - Tracheotomy care - Care of a ventilator-dependent student - Gastrostomy care and feeding including feeding pumps - Reinsertion of a gastrostomy tube - Use of an ambu bag - Suctioning
