Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. Prior to installing insulation, deck must be inspected and all deficiencies corrected. See Section 020700 - Selective Demolition for descriptions of the deck treatments/replacement. B. The roofing contractor shall perform all other work of preparing the deck. When insulation is applied, the deck shall be dry and free of dew, frost, ice, and snow. C. The roofing contractor shall notify the Owner and Architect of any improper installations or conditions that will affect the installation of the new roof system. D. Fill all holes in roof deck including burn holes at weld locations. 3.2 THERMAL INSULATION A. Installation of new insulation over existing insulation. 1. Install insulation with all joints staggered a minimum of 12-inches. 2. Mechanically attach new insulation through the existing insulation into the structural metal decking. Fastener density: One every two (2) square feet or according to the selected manufacturer’s requirements to provide a wind uplift rating of I-90. a. At exposed metal roof deck locations, the fasteners shall not extend below the bottom rib of the metal roof deck. 3. Install additional fasteners to ensure insulation is firm under foot. 4. Drive mechanical fasteners flush to top surface. 5. Install all crickets over previously installed insulation and mechanically fasten through the existing insulation into the structural metal decking.
