Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Contractor shall furnish all supervision, labor, equipment, fuel, and any other incidentals necessary to meet the requirements of the performance specifications stated within. The crew shall consist of a 4 wheel drive SUV or Pickup Truck and two (2) crew members with two (2) (16”-20”) chainsaws , at least one cell phone capable of service within the Salem District and the ability to locate GPS coordinates issued to the crew by VDOT. The contractor/contractors shall have the resources to furnish up to (6) crews for Salem Residency, (8) crews Christiansburg Residency, (4) crews Bedford Residency and (7) crews Martinsville Residency. The work shall consist of clearing of vegetative debris generated by snow storms, ice storms, tornadoes, floods, preventative maintenance, or any other event as designated by VDOT. Work will be performed within the Salem District along highway rights-of-way of primary, secondary and interstate routes also including VDOT facilities and/or VDOT leased property’s within the counties of Roanoke, Botetourt, Craig, Montgomery, Giles, Floyd, Pulaski, Bedford, Franklin, Henry, Patrick and Carroll Counties on an hourly basis for the purpose of enhancing safety for the public. A crew shall consist of a two (2) person crew and will be required to have a four wheel drive vehicle and all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), two (2) 16-20 in. chainsaws, hand saws, tools and any other items that are needed for the successful completion of the road clearing services. This line will be paid for hourly. The Contractor shall be expected to work seven (7) days a week, twenty-four hours a day, until the situation has been resolved and is released by the VDOT Contract Administrator(s) or designee. The line item pricing shall not change for work performed on a weekend, at night or any hours worked beyond a 40- hour week.
