Selected contractors will facilitate the installation of and one year of maintenance on Riparian Forest Buffers on waterways in the watershed for which they were selected. This will include completing outreach and recruitment of landowners for the program, preparing a project plan for the landowner, completing necessary site preparation as dictated by the site and its conditions to ensure success, installing the buffer, and completing one year of maintenance following planting. This work can be completed by the selected contractors’ subcontractor. All work will be completed between August 15, 2025, and May 21, 2027, unless the contract is renewed through May 31, 2029, with DOF approval. The contract itself will end on May 31, 2027, and if renewed, on May 31, 2029, to allow time for invoicing. The contract areas include the following River Basins: Potomac River, Rappahannock River, York River, James River, Atlantic Ocean Coastal, Chesapeake Bay Coastal, Chowan River, Albemarle Sound Coastal, Roanoke River, Yadkin River, New River, Clinch-Powell Rivers, Holston River, and Big Sandy River as indicated in the map below.
