Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. Mowing and Edging The Contractor shall: 1. Mow and edge all grass approximately once a week beginning June 1 through October 31, and monthly beginning November 1 through March 31 (actual frequency of mowing and edging may vary depending on actual need). 2. Mow all grass to the height of 2.5 – 3.5 inches, consistent with the type of turf of each facility. 3. Remove grass clippings from the lawn and dispose of properly. Care shall be taken not to blow lawn clippings into planting beds (LO&MM, Page 2). 4. Edge all grass around ground cover, flowerbeds and boarders, sidewalks, curbs, fence areas, signs, posts, poles, etc. 5. Edge in a manner so grass clippings are not placed in flowerbeds and boards. 6. Clear all sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, flowerbeds and borders, etc. of grass clippings; and 7. Provide a mowing schedule to the Library Director or his or her designee. B. Pruning and Trimming The Contractor shall: 1. Prune trees in March and trim trees in November and/or December; (LO&MM, Page 5). 2. Remove dead trees at the direction of the City; 3. Prune and trim shrubs and other plantings in mid-summer and winter, as necessary and required; and 4. Remove dead shrubs and plants. C. Weeding and Mulching All flowerbeds and borders shall be kept clear of weeds. Chemical and hand weeding shall be performed accordingly. (LO&MM, Pages 5-7). The Contractor shall: 1. Apply a pre-emergent herbicide in March for general lawn weeds outside the bee zones as per (LO&MM, Pages 2 and 6); 2. Apply a post-emergent herbicide in May for general lawn weeds outside the bee zones as per (LO&MM, Pages 2 and 6); 3. Apply a pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicide in flowerbeds and borders monthly from April 1 through October 31 outside bee zone areas. 4. Specify the chemical utilized and obtain approval from the Library Director or his or her designee prior to application; 5. Apply double-shredded, brown mulch to flowerbeds, borders and tree well (maintaining a depth of 3 inches) once in the Spring months utilizing double shredded dye mulch and again in the Fall Months; 6. Providing a mulching schedule to the Library Director or his or her designee; and 7. Weeding must be done by hand in or around flowerbeds and borders in the bee zones. D. Lawn Applications Grounds shall be aerated, fertilized, limed, and over-seeded to maintain a healthy lawn per the LO&MM. The Contractor shall: 1. Core aerate the lawn in September; 2. Over-seed the lawn with tall fescue mix (less than 1% inert material and less than .5% weed seed) and apply starter fertilizer in September; 3. Apply Fall fertilizer blend in October and December; 4. Apply Spring fertilizer in March and May; 5. Apply pellet lime once a year, as needed; and 6. Provide a schedule of all lawn applications to the Library Director or his or her designee prior to application. E. Trash, Leaf and Debris Removal The Contractor shall remove all trash, leaves, and debris from lawn areas, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, etc. on a weekly basis prior to mowing. This may include large branches and other large debris as a result of inclement weather.
