Specifications include, but are not limited to:It is the express purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) for the County of York, Virginia (hereinafter “Owner”) to obtain the services of a fully qualified solid waste company (hereinafter “Contractor”) to provide solid waste collection services to approximately 17,000 residential and small business accounts in the County. Participation in the solid waste collection program is voluntary, but approximately 17,000 out of the 20,000 eligible households and small businesses are currently enrolled in the weekly collection service. All solid waste collected as part of this contract shall be delivered to the York County Transfer Station located at 145 Goodwin Neck Road, Yorktown, 23692 unless another mutually agreeable permitted site by the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Environmental Quality is agreed upon in advance. 2.0SCOPE OF WORK: •Contractor shall provide weekly collection of solid waste to approximately 17,000 households and small businesses between the hours of 7am and 4pm Monday through Friday (Saturdays during a Holiday week) and deliver the solid waste to the York County Transfer Station located at 145 Goodwin Neck Road. •Contractor shall provide for bulk collection services to the customer accounts. Each customer account can arrange for 4 bulk collections (3 items each collection) each contract year. •Contractor shall provide for a special collection just for Christmas trees during a designated week in January (Typically, the first full week in January). Christmas trees collected shall be delivered to the Virginia Peninsula Public Service Authority Compost Facility located at 145 Goodwin Neck Road.
