The successful proposal will include all project design, equipment, placement of equipment, shipping charges, site considerations such as drainage, and full installation of equipment as described herein. The City will be responsible for demolition and removal of the existing playground equipment as well as to prepare the site for new equipment. If the Offeror has any specific requests for site preparation, it should be noted in their proposal submission. The following priorities and components should be addressed in the proposal. Playground should be designed using best practices and national standards. Offerors are encouraged to be creative in their proposed solutions. The proposed playground design and installation must: • Be appropriate for children aged five (5) to twelve (12) and include two (2) structures – one designed for 2-5 year olds and one designed for 5-12 year olds. Standalone swing sets shall be included; • Be a mix of components for the structures which may include, but is not limited to: slides, climbing walls, cable components, towers, zip lines, etc.; • Contain a variety of sensory experiences, including tactile, auditory, and visual experiences, as well as spinning, climbing, bouncing, and balancing opportunities; • Be inclusive to encourage children of all abilities to play together in the same space; • Be accessible, including wide navigational pathways at ground level and on ramps; • Encourage physical exercise; • Allow care-givers to assist children when needed; • Facilitate social interaction within the play area; • Incorporate opportunities to easily transfer to and from a mobility device to play components or structures; • Include multiple bright equipment colors (actual color suites will be selected by the City); • Be manual and not battery-powered; • Utilize support posts and decks made of metal and coated for durability and weather resistance. Structural members may not be made of plastic, composite, or wood.
