The project consists of a comprehensive fire safety systems upgrade at the Warrenton Readiness Center, a Virginia Department of Military Affairs facility located at 692 Waterloo Road, Warrenton, Virginia. The work includes the removal and replacement of existing fire protection and life safety systems within an occupied, operational building. Major components of the project include the installation of a new building-wide automatic fire sprinkler system, replacement of the existing fire alarm system with a new, fully compliant fire alarm and signaling system, and associated electrical power, controls, devices, and system integration. Existing sprinkler piping and heads will be removed or abandoned as required, and new piping, valves, fire department connections, and system components will be installed in accordance with applicable NFPA standards and Virginia codes. Selective demolition and minor architectural work are required to support the new systems, including ceiling access, patching, and restoration. The project also includes limited renovation work at the abandoned rifle range to remove existing structures and accommodate new exterior access. An additive bid item provides for the installation of a public address (PA) system.
