The purpose of the Quantico Creek Stream Restoration Project in Dumfries, Virginia, is to enhance water quality, stabilize stream banks, and mitigate flood risks through a multi-phase, ecologically focused restoration effort. Phase I, completed in 2020 as part of the Town’s Capital Improvement Plan, aimed to repair lateral and vertical stream degradation, remove invasive species, and improve the creek bed to support ecological health—all while preserving the existing FEMA-regulated flood zone. Phase II, with an estimated value of $1.5 million and targeted for completion by Fall 2026, builds on these efforts with expanded site development and stormwater infrastructure improvements to further stabilize the watershed, reduce sedimentation, and support long-term flood mitigation. The project is guided by engineered designs, surveys, and technical specifications developed by Ecosystem Services LLC, a licensed Professional Engineering firm (see Attachments A and B).
