Chapel worship services require Contractor support for the delivery of musical support as the Musician, including Choir director and organist for Protestant worship services and for special/seasonal services, as well as funeral and memorial services.
The requested task shall include the following:
- The Contractor shall provide instrumentation for all music associated with worship (preludes, postludes, congregational singing, music offertories, anthems, choral music, and service music scheduled at the Sunday service. The Contractor shall coordinate with the Pastor on all instrumental music and songs for each service, as well as the special/seasonal services. If additional musicians are included, the contractor will practice with the pieces in advance to ensure quality delivery.
- The Contractor shall develop, promote, and enhance the choral and supplemental music ministry program in the chapel community.
- The Contractor shall be able to successfully integrate with volunteers who play instruments other than the piano or organ and welcome them as accompanists and/or instrumentalists for services and actively work to grow the music ministry team due to the nature of turn over and transition with personnel on MCINCR-MCBQ.
- The Contractor shall plan the instrumental music for all regular and special services at the Marine Memorial Chapel (MMC) or designated worship location on Marine Corps Base (MCB) Quantico based on the recommendation of the Chaplain’s Office. The Contractor will be provided four (4) weeks in advance, the music plan for all regular and special/seasonal services (when possible). For services scheduled on short notice the plan for the instrumental music will be passed to the Contractor as soon as possible.
- The Contractor shall provide all instruments, other than the organs and piano in the Marine Memorial Chapel (MMC) or designated worship location on MCINCR-MCBQ Quantico.
- The Contractor retains the first right of refusal for to provide instrumentation (or appropriate substitute) and soloist accompaniment when required for scheduled Chapel Weddings, understanding the families can always elect to provide their own musicians if desired. The Contractor will provide a list of alternates if unable or unwilling to support a wedding. Since weddings and wedding rehearsals are not part of the Chapel Program, fees for the services are not covered within the contract. Fees for these services will be provided by the wedding couple and in accordance with published wedding guidelines.
- The Contractor shall recommend music and provide instrumentation for funerals and memorial services for active-duty Marines, for active-duty Marine Corps Base Quantico personnel, and/or for family members of active duty MCINCR-MCBQ personnel as needed. For non-Marine Corps Base Quantico personnel and/or family members the Contractor retains the first right of refusal for to provide instrumentation (or appropriate substitute) and soloist and accompaniment fees for this service will be provided by the family or funeral home, understanding the families can always elect to provide their own musicians if desired. There will be a 15-minute prelude before each funeral/memorial service.
- The Contractor shall provide recommendations to the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) concerning the proper maintenance of the chapel organs and piano.
- The Contractor shall have a basic familiarity with religious music and be familiar with at least two (2) liturgical music resource-publishing companies. The Contractor shall possess an appreciation for both contemporary and traditional church music.
- The following special musician events are to be supported by the Contractor:
- Ash Wednesday Service
- Good Friday Service
