A. Power Washing The Contractor shall power wash all surfaces to be painted with a mild chlorine wash solution to remove surface dirt, mildew and loose paint. Any loose paint shall be scraped down to a tight sound edge. The wash solution shall soak the surface of The Dome but shall not be allowed to dry. Once this is completed, the surfaces shall be rinsed with clean water, using low pressure. The Contractor shall use caution to avoid damage and unintentional water entry, especially near door and window openings. B. Preparation Prior to Painting The Contractor shall repair damaged areas including, but not limited to, nail holes, cracks, and spalls with suitable material to match adjacent undamaged areas. Remove blistering, cracking, flaking and peeling or other deteriorated coatings. Edges of repaired areas and chipped paint shall be feather edged and made smooth and apply primer to any bare patch material and concrete. All necessary caulking shall be performed. Wall penetrations shall be caulked using commercial high-grade polyurethane caulking prior to painting. Prior to surface preparation and coating applications, the Contractor shall mask, remove or otherwise protect hardware accessories, machined surfaces, plates, lighting fixtures, public property and other such items not to be coated that are in contact with surfaces to be coated.
