Specifications include, but are not limited to: The contractor shall furnish the Chesapeake Police Department with (1) one, Sporting Breed canine capable of being a narcotic courier canine preferably ranging in age from 12 to 26 months. The canine must have high utility, play and hunt drives and be environmentally sound. The canine must pass all the selection and evaluation testing as listed in ATTACHMENT B. The canine must be accompanied by a representative who is knowledgeable about the canine’s origins, character, and health. Proper documentation must be available showing age and, if imported, the country of origin. b. The canine shall be unconditionally guaranteed to be physically sound and free of any genetic defects, disease, health deficiency, or hereditary malformations and/or orthopedic problems for a minimum of one (1) year. Hip and elbow x-rays and health certificates shall be furnished, and proof of all required shots shall be provided at delivery. The canine shall pass an overall health test to be conducted by the Veterinarian utilized by the Chesapeake Police Department K-9 unit.
