The Contractor shall begin work on or after July 1st, 2025. Contractor shall provide proof of confirmed delivery date for the materials to be acquired for the project 10 days after the award of the contract, unless otherwise agreed upon by the VDOT Contract Administrator. The Contractor shall provide a continuous operation once they commence the work. The Contractor shall advise the VDOT Contract Administrator at least 24 hours prior to the commencement of the work. The Contractor shall not begin work until the location and extent of work has been verified and approved by the Contract Administrator. All work shall be performed in compliance with the applicable parts of the VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications 2020 or latest edition, including but not limited to: Section 302 – Drainage Structures, Section 232 – Pipe and Pipe Arches, Section 249 – Flowable Backfill, Section 217 – Hydraulic Cement Concrete, Section 218 – Hydraulic Cement Mortar and Grout, Section 303 – Earthwork, Section 512 – Maintaining Traffic, Section 107.16 – Environmental Stipulations. The Contractor’s equipment shall meet Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and Virginia Occupational Safety & Health (VOSH) standards. Additionally, the Contractor shall remain in compliance with all OSHA and VOSH personnel, equipment, and safety regulations. All work shall be performed in compliance with the Virginia Department of Environmental procedures and any revisions issued during the term of the contract. All work shall be performed as described below. The Contractor shall also furnish to the Residency a certification of suitability for the proposed rehabilitation system to provide the necessary hydraulic capacity and structural strength required to support the anticipated total load and hydrology at the site of rehabilitation. This certificate of suitability shall be determined from an analysis that has been signed and sealed by a Professional Engineer holding a valid license to practice engineering in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Such certification shall cover all design data and supporting calculations for the planned rehabilitation methodology and materials. In addition to the Professional Engineer’s certification of the structural strength to support the anticipated total load, a load rating shall be submitted. The load rating calculations shall be in accordance with VDOT Structure and Bridge Division requirements. Rte. 1460 – Village Dr – Bedford County – GPS: 37.30002, -79.76431 • Install E&S measures as required, minor Tree removal maybe required for access road to streambed. All debris must be chipped or hauled to landfill. • Bore a new Double Run of 72”x150’+/- (x2) Steel Casing under Route 1460. • Install new precast standard EW-7 on inlet and outlet of steel casing. Precast walls must meet Current VA Road and Bridge Standards from a certified precast manufacturer. o Wings shall be set at 30 degrees and have a 2:1 slope • Line the streambed and bank with up to 20’x20’ of A1 Riprap protection on the inlet and outlet of the new steel casings • Reshape the flow line of the streambed to approach the new pipe. Permitted up to 53’ upstream and 6’ downstream • Abandon the existing 72” CMP pipes with pressurized VDOT Flowable Fill • Pump will be set up to pump clean water from the stream through the existing pipes while boring new steel casings • Dirty water will be pumped through properly sized filter bag to well vegetated area • Any damage to the paved ditches located on the east and west side of the project must be repaired to existing conditions prior to completion of the project • Existing slope failure on the inlet side of the project must be excavated and stabilized, Mix of Class 1 and A1 RipRap as necessary and the shoulder capped with crusher run stone • The Outlet slope must be stabilized and shoulder capped with crusher run stone • Seed and straw all disturbed areas • All excess material will be disposed of at approved disposal site or landfill
