The Virginia Department of Transportation (herein referred to as “VDOT”) is soliciting bids from qualified firms to provide pest control services to various locations within the Hampton Roads District (Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel, Monitor Merrimac Memorial Bridge Tunnel, Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Administration Building and Training Center, Traffic Operations Center, Moveable Bridges (High Rise and Berkley), Wayside AHQ, Frederick AHQ, Pine Chapel AHQ and Equipment Shop; Specifications include, but are not limited to: GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. The Contractor shall furnish all transportation, supervision, labor, equipment, chemicals and materials necessary to perform monthly pest control services and an annual termite inspection for the buildings/locations listed in the Location Chart on Pages 29-32. The specific areas for treatment include the interior and exterior of the buildings unless instructed otherwise. The annual termite inspection shall be scheduled with the VDOT Representative, performed along with the initial monthly pest control service and at each renewal period and shall be included in the square foot/monthly cost. 2. The monthly extermination services shall be treatment to prevent/eliminate various pest including but not limited to spiders, roaches, silverfish, moths, pill bugs, fleas, gnats, earwigs, centipedes, millipedes and mice. Monthly services for all buildings, locations, areas as referenced in the Location Chart on Pages 29-32 shall be completed on or before the 15th day of each month of service. 3. Prior to the commencement of services and within fifteen (15) business days from issuance of the Notice of Award, the contractor shall schedule and perform an initial inspection of all buildings/site and establish and submit a Pest Control Plan for each building/site. The Pest Control Plan along with the Safety Data Sheets shall be submitted to the VDOT Representative and the Contract Officer for review and approval. Once the Pest Control Plan is approved, the Contractor shall begin services within five (5) business days. The Contractor shall not apply any pesticide product that is not included in the Pest Control Plan and which has not been approved by the Contract Administrator and/or VDOT Environmental. 4. The Contractor shall control and/or eliminate pests by applying the appropriate residual and non-residual pesticides that are conducive to the location of the infestation. The Contractor shall use chemicals that adhere to smooth as well as rough surfaces. The contractor shall ensure the transporting, handling, and application of all pesticides are in strict accordance with the manufacturer's label instructions and all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. If the Contractor’s methods fail to provide desired results, the Agency reserves the right to request a change in chemicals in order to eliminate the problem. All chemicals shall be of low toxicity, be registered with U. S. Environmental Protection Agency and in compliance with (EPA) labeling and use requirements under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (as amended.)
