Preparation: Site Assessment: Inspect cabins’ exterior for any existing damage or area(s) requiring repair before cleaning or staining. Contractor is responsible for repairing any damages to include caulking, filling holes, etc. Protect Surroundings: Cover and/or move any outdoor furniture or any other items near cabins. Protect windows, doors, utility boxes and other sensitive areas from overspray or water. Use drop cloths to cover landscaping and any other items unable to me moved to prevent damage from pressure washing and staining. Surface Cleaning / Pre-wash Treatment: Apply a suitable cleaning solution to the cabin’s exterior to break down dirt, mold, mildew and/or other contaminants. Power Wash, using suitable equipment at appropriate settings for surfaces being cleaned to avoid damage. Cleaning all exterior surfaces, including but limited to exterior walls/siding, trim, gutters, soffits deck rails, stairs, treads, dormers, and chimney surrounds. Rinse off all surfaces removing any remaining detergent or cleaning solutions. Conduct final inspection to ensure all surfaces are clean, free of debris and ready for application of stain. Staining: Contractor must allow all exterior surfaces to dry thoroughly before applying stain (24-48 hours). The Contractor shall provide Sherwin Williams WoodScapes Semi-Transparent stain – 3574 English Walnut or park approved equivalent. The Contractor shall not apply stain when the surface to be stained or surrounding air temperatures or conditions are outside the manufacture’s recommendations. Application of stain can be applied by sprayer with proper preparation to prevent overspray on non-wood surfaces. Some areas of staining will require brush and/or roller application to achieve full coverage. Special attention should be given to areas such as corners, joints and trim. The Contractor shall apply a minimum of two coats of stain.
