Ship’s force energized the OWS per SOP while underway for their winter 2022 patrol. OWS would not get out of the initial freshwater flush cycle and begin processing bilge water. Ship’s force contacted technical support and they advised to “Do a freshwater flush Before starting the OWS, the measuring cell (PPM should read 0 to 1). If PPM will not come down, then clean the measuring cell with the Deckman brush. If measuring cell is reading okay, then skip to step #2. With the unit processing in tank mode and backpressure around 2 bar. Increase the back pressure 0.5 bar and give the unit couple minutes for PPM to come down. If not repeat step #2 but give couple minutes in between each backpressure increase so system can stabilize.” SF completed these and was unable to adjust back pressure or get unit to come out of a freshwater flush cycle. Service technician advised that if these steps would not work, a certified tech would be required.
CGC FORWARD is requesting funding for a tech rep to come on site to provide any necessary repairs to the unit and training to Ship’s Force.
