The project modifies existing ship-to-shore crane landside tie-down sets at the northern end of the South NIT wharf to improve their capacity and make them compatible with the new ship-toshore cranes that will be replacing the existing cranes. Work items for the project include but is not limited to - Delineating and placing work area barriers, barrels, lights, and rope. - Selective demolition of existing pavement, and concrete. - Vertical and horizonal excavation to access the underside of the tie-downs. - Selective removal of existing tie-down components, which may entail coring through the wharf deck. - Modification of selected existing tie-down components and reinstallation. - Fabrication of new tie-down components and installation. - Backfill of excavation with flowable fill. - Restoration of pavement. - Placement of fiber reinforced concrete. - Placement of aggregate base course. - Placement of in-fill concrete and grout around the tie-down hardware. - Lifting and reinstallation of deck access hatches - Deployment of small boats or working floats within the underwharf detention vault to access the underside of selected tie-downs. - Confined space entry procedures.
