Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. The Contractor must maintain a continuous weather watch in support of VDOT. This watch consists of 24/7/365 monitoring of atmospheric and pavement conditions throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Contractor shall provide exclusive around-the-clock forecasters dedicated to VDOT, who provide detailed weather forecasts that specifically forecast weather impacts to transportation mobility, work, safety, and infrastructure, on a routine basis and when requested by VDOT personnel. a. The Contractor shall provide weather and pavement forecasts at a minimum of twice per day at 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM EST during non-winter months, and during winter months (November 1 - April 15), must provide HOURLY weather and pavement forecasts. (VDOT uses weather and pavement forecasts to brief supervisors and crews, and they serve as a planning tool for predicting staff and equipment needs.) These daily/routine issuances consist of 24-hour forecasts, consisting of one hour time steps including the following minimum elements: i. Forecast sky condition ii. Forecast air temperature forecast dew point temperature iii. Forecast precipitation (type, start time, duration, and amount) iv. Probability of ice.
