Within the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center (NAVCC) in Culpeper, Virginia, the Library of Congress (Library) operates a videotape laboratory for the digitization of large quantities of historic video collections housed in Library vaults. The video collections encompass dozens of historic and obsolete videotape formats, and therefore a large range of videotape players and supporting equipment are needed to achieve the digitization mandate. NAVCC requires specialized contractor support to service and repair its historic Quad Video Tape Recorders (VTR). The purpose of this procurement is to assist the Library in accomplishing part of the Library’s strategic goal to “acquire, preserve, and provide access to a universal collection of knowledge and the record of America’s creativity”. The Library of Congress (Library) requires an experienced contractor to complete onsite repairs for very large, specialized vintage Video Tape Recorder (VTR) equipment to keep it in working order.
