Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Virginia Veterans Care Center (herein “VVCC”) is a two hundred twenty-four (224) bed long term care facility located on approximately seventeen (17) acres in Roanoke City, Virginia. Of the seventeen acres, approximately thirteen (13) acres are covered by wooded areas, buildings and landscaped areas. The grounds of the VVCC are enjoyed by both residents and guests to the facility. The VVCC is seeking a grounds maintenance firm to provide all labor, supervision, materials, equipment and supplies to perform the following services in an efficient workmanlike manner consistent with the highest standards for the type of service being performed: 1. Mow and trim the grass as needed to maintain a neat appearance. Mowing is to be accomplished using sharp blades and mowing shall be performed at a speed slow enough to eliminate push over of grass. 2. Rake and remove grass clippings. 3. Curb edging as needed to maintain a neat appearance to plant beds and sidewalks. 4. Weed eater trimming at ninety (90) degrees (not forty-five (45) degrees) or burn down when trimming at borders. 5. Mowing shall be scheduled on Wednesday or Thursday (with Thursday being preferred) between 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The Contractor and the Contract Administrator shall mutually agree upon the day of the week and time of the day. The Contract Administrator will be the Director of Building and Grounds. 6. Mowing season will be April through October. Exceptions shall be dry season as defined by Contract Administrator. Contractor will be notified twenty-four (24) hours prior to service being required or service being cancelled. Contract Administrator shall notify the Contractor to resume normal schedule at the end of the dry period. 7. All moveable items in the designated areas are to be mowed under. Moveable items include, but are not limited to, picnic tables, bleachers, trash receptacles, etc. 8. All parking lot islands, and the front circle shall be hand mowed using a push mower with a bagger. 9. Trash is to be picked up and not mowed over.
