1. LAWN MOWING: a. Areas to be mowed include all lawn grass inside and outside the fence of the VDOT Staunton District Complex, as shown on Drawing Attachments, Exhibits 1, 1A-1J (Lawn Area denoted). The total lawn area is approximately 4.50 acres. b. Mowing shall normally be performed weekly during the growing season; however, in the case of dry or wet weather and other factors, mowing may be done more or less frequently than on a weekly basis. Mowing is estimated to occur approximately twenty-five (25) times each year; however, this is an estimate and no guarantees for actual mowing are made. c. Grass shall be mowed and maintained to a height of 2.75 - 3.25 inches. d. All areas around sidewalks, trees, shrubs, buildings, parking areas, driveways and fences shall be string-trimmed each time mowing is performed. e. Back Complex Hillside/Pond Areas, as noted on the attached site plan in Exhibits 1, 1A-1J, shall be string-trimmed approximately two (2) times per year between April 1-10 and October 1-10. This may be more or less as determined by the VDOT Contract Administrator. f. An edger shall be used every other mowing at all sidewalks and curbs. All borders of turf shall be edged to maintain clear contour lines. All direct and debris resulting from the edgings shall be swept and removed from the area. g. Litter, broken limbs less than three (3) inches in diameter and debris shall be picked up prior to mowing and disposed of properly. h. All sidewalks, entryways, and exterior surface of buildings shall be swept and/or air blown to clean of all debris immediately after each mowing. i. The maximum acceptable mower cutting width shall be sixty (60) inches and all mowing equipment shall be designed for fine turf maintenance...
