Work includes, but is not limited to, the installation of perimeter erosion and sediment control systems; the off-site purchase, transport, and on-site stockpiling of final cover soils to be used for intermediate, protective, and topsoil coverings; relocation, compaction, and soil covering of municipal solid waste materials from areas of waste overfill to an designated disposal area within the landfill footprint; installation of the active landfill gas extraction and collection system that is to be below the final cover system; placement of an additional 6 inches of intermediate cover soils from the on-site soil stockpile over the closure area; fine grading and compaction of the intermediate cover soils in preparation of the geosynthetic covering system; purchase, delivery, and installation of the geosynthetic covering systems; excavation and backfill of the perimeter and intermediate geosynthetic anchor trenches; placement and compaction of the 18-inch protective soil and 6-inch topsoil coverings from the on-site soil stockpile; installation of the above-ground landfill gas collection system components and connection to the existing flare station; drainage bench construction; slope drain installations; temporary and permanent seeding, fertilizer, mulch, and erosion control matting; maintenance of erosion and sediment control measures throughout the construction contract period; removal of erosion and sediment control measures after site stabilization acceptance by the County; and warranty repair and maintenance of permanently seeded areas for a period of not less than 1 year after final project completion. The project scope will be divided into two project phases. Phase 1 shall consist of the following scope of work: Installation of erosion and sediment control measures; Purchase, transport, and stockpiling of fill soils to be used for intermediate and final cover; and Closure of Phase 1 as shown on the Contract Drawings. This will consist of placement of approximately 90,000 cubic yards of soil, relocation of approximately 29,000 cubic yards of waste, placement of 15 acres of the geosynthetic final cover system, and installation of the Phase 1 landfill gas collection system.
