6.1 Existing System Removal and Disposal The Contractor shall be responsible for the complete and legal removal and off-site disposal of the existing synthetic turf field system. This includes, but is not limited to: Turf Fiber Removal: Mechanical removal of all existing synthetic turf fibers. Infill Material Removal: Complete removal of all existing rubber infill and (if applicable) sand infill materials. Goal Post Removal: Disassembly and removal of all existing goal posts and associated hardware. Legal Off-Site Disposal: All removed materials (turf, infill, goal posts, and any associated debris) shall be transported to an approved, licensed disposal facility in accordance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations. The Contractor shall provide disposal manifests and documentation upon request, demonstrating compliance with environmental laws. 6.2 Sub-Surface and Drainage Inspection & Preparation Prior to new system installation, the Contractor shall conduct a thorough inspection and execute necessary preparations of the existing sub-surface and drainage system. Drainage System Inspection: A comprehensive inspection of the existing drainage system (e.g., perimeter drains, underdrainage, collector pipes, catch basins) shall be performed to assess functionality, identify blockages, damage, or areas requiring repair. The inspection report shall be submitted to the County. Sub-Surface Inspection: A detailed inspection of the existing aggregate sub-base shall be conducted to determine its structural integrity, compaction, and stability. This includes identifying any areas of erosion, settlement, or inadequate compaction. The inspection report shall be submitted to the County. Repair and Stabilization Efforts: Based on the inspection findings and subject to County approval, the Contractor shall propose and execute all necessary repairs and stabilization efforts. This may include, but is not limited to: clearing and flushing of drainage lines, repair or replacement of damaged drainage components, re-grading and re-compaction of sub-base materials to achieve specified density and permeability (e.g., 92% Modified Proctor Density), addition of new aggregate or stabilization materials as required to ensure a stable, level, and free-draining foundation for the new turf system. 6.3 New Synthetic Turf System – Material and Installation The Contractor shall provide all materials, equipment, labor, and supervision required for the complete installation of a new synthetic turf field system. All materials shall be new, of the highest quality, and suitable for the intended purpose. Turf Product: Provide and install a high-quality rubber turf product designed for athletic use, meeting or exceeding all relevant industry standards (e.g., ASTM F1551, ASTM F1936, ASTM F2898) for durability, playability, and safety. The turf system shall be accompanied by manufacturer's specifications, product data sheets, and comprehensive warranty information. Infill System: Provide and install a specified infill rubber that meets performance, safety, and environmental criteria. The infill shall be evenly distributed and properly brushed into the turf fibers to achieve specified depths and consistency. Shock Pad (If Applicable): If specified by the County or recommended for optimal performance and safety, provide and install an appropriate shock pad layer beneath the turf, meeting specified G-max and HIC values. Seaming and Adhesion: All turf seams shall be securely joined using manufacturer-approved seaming materials and techniques, ensuring a smooth, uniform, and durable playing surface with no visible gaps or irregularities. New Goal Posts: Provide and install new, regulation-size goal posts suitable for the intended sport(s), including all necessary foundations and hardware. Goal posts shall be securely anchored, meet relevant safety standards (e.g., ASTM F2950), and be approved by the County. Quality Control: The Contractor shall implement a comprehensive quality control plan throughout the installation process, including regular checks on sub-base compaction, turf alignment, infill depth, seam integrity, and overall field flatness. Documentation of these checks shall be provided to the County.
