A. General 1. This contract is for mandatory repairs to the Fort Palisade at Jamestown Settlement. Work includes the replacement of the gatehouse roof clapboards, ten (10) palisade posts, and two (2) wooden gates, as shown on the attached map and photographs. B. Requirements 1. The Contractor shall provide all tools, labor, materials, equipment, and any other incidentals (including trunnels/pegs) necessary to complete the work described herein that are not provided by the Agency. All tools and equipment shall be suitable and of sufficient capacity for the required work. The Contractor shall have experience with all phases of timber frame construction, including wattle and daub work, as well as modern heavy timber construction. 2. Attached sketches and photos are provided as a guide for bid planning only and may not be drawn to scale. Dimensions shown may be approximate. These documents shall not be relied upon as shop drawings. It is the sole responsibility of the Contractor to verify all dimensions and site conditions prior to fabrication and installation. C. Specific Requirements – Materials 1. Palisade Posts – Ten (10) approximately 12”x12”x 16’ long pressure treated pine timbers are needed to replace old rotting posts. 2. Gates – Two (2) new gates are required to replace deteriorated gates. New gates shall match existing examples in appearance and construction, using pressure-treated timbers that are rough-cut or modified to appear rough-cut. Gates are approximately 41" x 103", and the gate opening is approximately 91". 3. Gatehouse Roof Clapboards – Roof clapboards shall be fabricated from pressuretreated pine, 10' long by 8" wide, beveled from 1/4" to 3/4".
