A. Identify non-native vegetation to be controlled. Species include those designated as invasive by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (Attachment J). Additional species or specific target species may be specified by County Contract Administrator. B. Control above listed species with appropriate herbicide products approved by the contract administrator and follow the County’s Safer Chemical Management Procedure with combinations of foliar treatments, basal bark treatments, cut-stem treatments. All pesticide applicators shall be trained and licensed as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia. C. Trees that are targeted for herbicide treatments or damaged from management activities will be felled to remove potential hazards and chipped or mulched by contractor unless flagged to remain as habitat/snag trees for wildlife. D. Contractor will only work in specified areas flagged/outlined/mapped by County staff. E. Contractor will perform re-seeding of grasses, forbs, wildflowers, and/or woody perennial shrubs as appropriate to conform with prescriptions of project area. F. Contractor will install trees, shrubs, plugs, tree tubes, and/or tree stakes to conform with prescriptions of project area. G. Contractor will perform bush hogging, mowing, and weed eating to conform with prescriptions of project area. H. Contractor will administer forestry mulching, prescribed burning, site prep, grading as needed to conform with prescribed management activities for project areas. I. The Contractor shall use generally accepted forestry practices that are good for the environment and pose minimal impact on soil and water resources. All attempts must be made to follow Virginia Department of Forestry’s Best Management Practices as it relates to soil and water impacts from project operations. J. Herbicide applications performed under optimum conditions/times of year.
