Specifications include, but are not limited to: Offerors shall provide psychiatric medical care to the inmates confined in the Botetourt County Jail which will include a visit to the jail once per week with additional visits as needed. The weekly visits must be set up with the medical department staff and remain consistent unless a 2-week prior notice is given regarding a change in day. Offerors shall be responsible for assisting in the development and final approval of all mental health screening documents used by the Correctional Staff. Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Medical Staff shall conduct mental health screening examinations and will provide appropriate emergency mental health treatment to all mentally ill inmates under the direction of the Offeror chosen and the Physician Medical Director(s); and further the Offeror shall provide necessary telephone consultation or jail visits on holidays and weekends. The Offeror shall be available for 24-hour on-call for emergencies at Botetourt County Jail. When the Offeror is not available (vacation, holiday, etc.) he/she shall be responsible for providing someone for the jail visits and on-call. The person covering for the regular physician must be a physician or licensed Physician’s Assistant or qualified and Licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Must be preapproved by the Jail Administration Personnel). That person must be cleared through a criminal history check and must meet ACA & PREA standards.
