The Contractor, as part of the NERS Medical Board, shall provide medical examinations and written reports to NERS for members (City employees) who apply for an accidental or ordinary disability retirement and for members (City employees or retirees) who become recipients of disability retirement benefits. The Contractor shall determine and advise NERS whether the member is mentally or physically totally and permanently incapacitated for the further performance of their job and whether the incapacity is permanent, based on position description information provided by the City and as determined by the Contractor. The Contractor shall conduct the medical examinations and provide the written reports to the NERS within five (5) business days. The Contractor may consult with other medical services providers who have examined/treated the City employee/retiree in order to determine disability, as needed.
