M/V Surry is equipped with a fixed fire system as well as a portable/semi-portable system. There are sixteen (16) 100# CO2 cylinders in the fixed system, which are located on the weather deck that protects the engine room. This system is equipped with a 25 second time delay, one (1) pressure switch, one (1) audible alarm, one (1) stop alarm and three (3) remote stations all of which will need to be tested and brought up to USCG regulation, if failed, prior to the day of the inspection. There is one (1) 50# CO2 cylinder located inside the generator room itself that protects the emergency diesel generator (EDG). This system consists of one (1) pressure switch, a heat activated device, one (1) fuel cut out pull station and one (1) remote pull station that will need to be tested and brought up to USCG regulation, if failed, the day before the actual inspection. The time delay will also need to be inspected on the day of the COI for the USCG to witness the timing of the response. The portable fire extinguisher system consists of 19 bottles. All 19 will need to be tested and brought up to USCG regulation in case of failure, the day before the actual COI inspection. PORTABLE extinguishers are all ABC Class, Dry Chemical, type and are all 10# extinguishers.
