Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, supervision, equipment, tools, materials, fuel, and incidentals necessary to mow grass; pick up litter, leaves and debris; trim around sidewalks, trees, buildings, parking areas, driveways, and fences; and prune shrubbery at designated areas on an as-needed basis when notified by the Contract Administrator, or designee. Mowing will normally be performed during the growing season and will not be necessary during the winter months of the contract(s). The Contract Administrator has the right to suspend the mowing schedule during periods of dry weather or wet weather conditions. 2. MOWING HEIGHT: The Contractor shall mow all specified areas to a height of 2.75 – 3.25 inches, or as directed by the Contract Administrator, or designee. The Contractor shall clean all sidewalks after each mowing is performed. 3. HAND MOWING/RAKING/VACUUMING/TRIMMING: The Contractor shall hand mow or string trim all areas around sidewalks, trees, buildings, parking areas, driveways, and fences each time mowing is performed. Raking/vacuuming grass clippings is required only if grass grows to a height above recommendations in Section IV.A.2., which results in heavy, unsightly cutting. Buildings, sidewalks, trees and fences shall be neatly edge-trimmed. Fences shall be trimmed on both sides. The area surrounding all trees and shrubs shall be string trimmed each time grass is mowed. Mowing and trimming at each location shall be done within the same day. No time lapse between trimming and mowing will be permitted. All sidewalks and paved areas shall be swept or air blown clean of all grass and debris immediately after each mowing. Litter, broken limbs less than three (3) inches in diameter and debris shall be picked up prior to mowing and disposed of properly (Reference Para.IV.D.3.g.). 4.ACCESS TO VDOT PROPERTY: Access to fenced areas is not permitted outside of VDOT business hours. All mowing within fences shall be started and completed during business hours. Business hours during Daylight Savings Time (DST) are 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. All mowing/trimmed areas inside and outside fenced areas shall be mowed within the same day. For areas designated as unmanned locations, the Contractor shall contact the designated Superintendent of that location to gain access, if applicable. The contact phone numbers will be provided to the Contractor(s) at the time of the post award meeting.
