SCOPE OF WORK: The Contractor shall provide all supervision, labor, equipment, fuel, traffic control (including all equipment as required per the most recent version of the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual), transportation of the personnel and equipment and any other incidentals necessary to meet the requirements stated within. The work shall consist of but not limited to insecticide applications and herbicide applications. Types of work locations include, but are not limited to plant beds, storm water management basins, roadsides, facilities, and lawns/yards. The work assignments may be multiple locations on a daily basis. The Contractor shall be capable to begin work with two (2) Crew B’s on February 17, 2026. Reference Spraying Schedule IV.D.7. HOURLY BASED SPECIFICATIONS: 1. Crew Requirements: a. Crew A - ALL-WHEEL DRIVE/FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE PICKUP WITH MINIMUM 200 GALLON SPLIT/DUAL TANK SPRAY UNIT: The all-wheel drive/four-wheel drive pickup shall carry a minimum of 200-gallon split-tank commercial pesticide skid spray unit. The spray tank shall have two (2) 100-gallon compartments, capable of applications from each tank via independent pumps. The spray unit shall be capable of spraying high volumes of mixtures and spraying mixtures at pressures as low as 20 P.S.I. The unit shall have a minimum of one handgun with at least 300 feet of high-pressure hose mounted on an automated reel. The handgun shall be equivalent to a Green Garde Model JD9 or better. The spray unit shall be equipped with mechanical or jet agitation, automatic cut-off/anti-drip valves and a pressure regulator. A spare handgun, clamps, and hoses shall be provided with each vehicle for minor repairs. Two (2) commercial backpack sprayers shall be carried on each pickup. Two (2) crew members/operators shall be provided for each pickup as follows: • One (1) crew member/operator shall possess a current Commercial (For Hire) Pesticide Applicator Certification valid for Category 6 (Right-of-Way Pest Control) issued by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. • One (1) crew member/operator shall possess a Registered Technician Certification issued by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. • If desired, two (2) Commercial (For Hire) Pesticide Applicators on a crew shall be permissible. 3. Truck Requirements: a. All pickups shall be a minimum three-quarter (¾) ton with either all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive with a minimum bed length of eight (8) feet. Step-side pickups shall not be allowed to operate under this contract. b. All pickups shall be equipped with a minimum of one (1) rotating amber light or high intensity amber strobe light and shall be in accordance with the most current edition of the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual. 4. Spray Vehicle Requirements: The Contractor shall furnish and maintain in each spray vehicle at all times the following items: a. Commercial spill response kit; b. Cellular telephone which is operational within the Staunton District; c. ¾ inch diameter garden hose with a minimum length of twenty-five (25) feet; d. Toolbox with the appropriate tools to perform minor repairs; e. One (1) backpack spray rebuild kit (not required for Crew C); f. Labels and Safety Data Sheets for the pesticides being used. 5. Backpack Specifications: Each commercial backpack sprayer shall meet the following specifications: a. Birchmeier Iris 15 AT3 Backpack Sprayer or Jacto HD400; b. Viton or Santoprene seals.
