Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Mowing, Trimming, Weeding and Edging: Grounds shall be combed and cleared of any obstructions, trash, or debris prior to any mowing or trimming and dispose of such. Grass shall be evenly cut at a height best suitable for the species of turf and agreeable with Management at the facility. (This height should be around 3 inches) Yard will be maintained at this level from March to October, as needed. Trimming shall be conducted around all vertical obstructions, bedding, trees, shrubs, walkways, pond and streets at every cutting. All bedding, walkways, lots and streets shall be blown clean of grass clippings. Removal of weeds from ground cover areas, mulch beds, flower beds, walkways, and lots will be conducted at this time as well. Bids shall include the need for any herbicides used. Straight edging along sidewalks and curbs shall be completed at each mowing. ; 2. Wedge Edging: Edging of all mulch beds shall be done prior to mulching with a 2 inch slanted wedge cut along bed edges. This application must be maintained throughout the mowing season.; 3. Pruning: Prune all trees and bushes from obstructing or touching buildings or other structures. All shrubbery around the building shall be trimmed to the bottom of window sills, this will allow our residents to see out from their rooms. Shrubbery and trees around the pond shall be trimmed to look neat and well kept, per their variety. All trimmings shall be cleaned up and disposed of.; 4. Mulching: Mulch must be double shredded and dyed black hardwood, free of mold, pest, and termites. Mulching consist of all beds, trees and other areas currently mulched. Fresh mulch shall be spread once per year in early Spring. Old mulch will need to be removed from some beds prior to new mulch application. ; 5. Spring Fertilization: Early fertilization of trees, shrubs and lawn to be completed in March/April to help promote summer growth. ; 6. Lawn Fertilizer: Lawn and grass areas shall be fertilized with a slow release fertilizer in June and then a granular fertilizer shall be used for the Fall, in October/November.; 7. Weed Control: Lawn and grass areas shall be sprayed for weed control as needed for weeds such as Broadleaf, Crabgrass, etc.; 8. Aerate and Seeding: Core Aeration and Tall Fescue seeding must be done one time in the fall.; 9. Leaf Removal: Once trees begin to lose their leaves, vendor must collect, remove and dispose of any fallen leaves, sticks and limbs from the lawns and beds. This will be required at a minimum of two times during the Fall until all leaves have fallen.; 10. Irrigation Start Up/Shut Down: (Hunter I Core IC-600PL) Start-up will include reinstalling the backflow preventer, performing a maintenance check of the irrigation system to include, turning the water on and running a test on all valves within the system and making minor adjustments to any heads. Ensure water coverage is appropriate for the lawns and beds. Shut-down of the system will include winterization. This will include turning the water off and removal of the backflow preventer. Remove water from the lines and run air through the entire system. Check irrigation heads and lines for any necessary repairs. Any issues found with the system at start-up or shut-down will be directed to the Procurement Officer and Maintenance Supervisor for repairs.
