Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1.1 Growing Season Maintenance (March through October, and may be requested outside of this period as needed) 1.11 All grass shall be mowed, including drainage areas around parking lot and aircraft ramp, as needed to maintain a neat appearance of three (3) to five (5) inches in length. Contractor shall use a string trimmer 12 inches out from around all stationary objects (e.g. poles, fence, building, etc.). Direct all clippings away from buildings, parking lots, sidewalks, cars, etc. when mowing. All trash shall be picked up before mowing. 1.12 Parking lot, aircraft ramp, sidewalks, building entrances, and flower beds shall be kept free of all grass clippings and trash. 1.13 Plant beds, sidewalks, ramp and parking lot areas, and where pavement/concrete meet building walls shall be free of weeds and grass, and maintained by hand-weeding and/or use of environmentally friendly herbicides. 1.14 Curb edging shall be performed as needed to maintain a neat appearance to plant beds and sidewalks. 1.15 Shrubbery shall be trimmed as needed to maintain a neat appearance. All dead and broken branchesshall be removed. Shrubs in flower beds at building shall be maintained at a height of no more than 30” tall. At least a two-foot clearance shall be maintained between shrubs and buildings. Shrubs at road sign shall be maintained at a height that allows visibility of all information being displayed on sign. Spray insecticide on all shrubbery as needed to prevent damage and pest infestation. 1.16 Crepe Myrtles shall be pruned as needed to maintain three (3) to four(4) main trunks for each tree and to keep all sucker growth that sprouts from the bottom of the trunk and below six (6) feet on the trunks removed and clear of adjacent sidewalks at all times. Contractor shall reduce and maintain height of each tree to six (6) inches below adjacent building roof line. To reduce a crepe myrtle’s height, use hand pruners orloppers to shorten the topmost branches by two to three feet in late winter, always cutting back to a side branch or bud. For branches more than two inches thick, always cut back to the crotch or trunk. Contractor shall prune in winter when the bush is dormant to remove last season’s growth, flower heads, and seed pods. Contractor shall prune away any dead, crossing, rubbing, or inward-growing branches. Contractor shall prune back long or arching branches to where they are no more than 1/2-inch in diameter. 1.17 All trees within fifty feet of the buildingsshall be limbed up to eightfeet above grade, and trimmed to prevent hanging over the adjacent building. 1.18 Contractor shall clear woods and undergrowth in wooded areas as needed to maintain a neat appearance and to prevent spreading or overhanging lawn areas. 1.19 Contractor should water grass, shrubs and other plantings as conditions warrant it.
