Specifications include, but are not limited to: provide engineering services for the design and construction of UVA’s new Fontaine Central Energy Plant & Utilities (FCEP&U) distribution in accordance with the latest version of the UVA Higher Education Capital Outlay Manual (HECOM). The immediate purpose of the new FCEP&U will be to provide thermal utilities for a new 350K GSF Institute for Biotechnology that is being designed/ constructed in parallel with the FCEP&U. Ultimately the FCEP&U will provide thermal utilities to additional new and existing buildings located at Fontaine totaling over 1M GSF. The design of the FCEP&U should be aligned with the following relevant UVA sustainability goals: Carbon Neutral by 2030; Fossil Fuel Free by 2050; 30% Domestic Water Reduction (Relative to 2010); The successful engineering firm will provide engineering design services for all engineering disciplines and will be required to partner with an architectural firm selected by the University for all building exterior, landscape, and architectural design to ensure compatibility with the new Institute for Biotechnology.
