GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 1.1 The intent of these specifications is to establish the minimum acceptable performance, durability, safety, and quality requirements for the procurement of one (1) Vehicle Fire Training Prop and one (1) LP Tank Fire Training Prop for Spotsylvania County Fire, Rescue & Emergency Management (FREM). 1.2 All equipment furnished shall be new, unused, of current manufacture, and constructed to withstand heavy-duty fire training use defined as a minimum of 200 live burns per year with an expected service life of not less than ten (10) years. 1.3 All components routinely exposed to flame or high heat shall be constructed of minimum ¼-inch ASTM A36 steel plate, unless otherwise specified. Exterior skins shall be not less than 3/16-inch steel, and interior structural components shall be not less than ¼-inch high-quality steel. 1.4 Use of thin-gauge sheet metal, automotive body panels, or other non-structural materials is not acceptable. 1.5 Welds shall conform to AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Standards. The prop shall maintain structural integrity with no significant warping, deformation, or failure over repeated heating and cooling cycles.
