This project consists of demolishing the existing Fairview Fire Station, constructing the new fire station and then demolishing the Temporary Fairview Fire Station. The existing Fairview Fire Station is an approximately 8,500 square foot (SF), one-story, three-apparatus bay facility. The Contractor will be responsible for all utility disconnections, hazardous material abatement and application for the demolition permit. The facility shall be demolished completely including all site amenities, underground foundations and utilities as proposed in the contract documents. The facility will be vacated by Fairfax County Fire and Rescue prior to the notice to proceed date. Upon demolition of the existing Fairview Fire Station, the contractor will construct an approximately 13,500 SF, two-story, three-apparatus bay fire station facility and associated site work. The building and site are designed to satisfy LEED-Gold, Net Zero Energy design, and the Contractor will be required to support the documentation and certification efforts. The scope of work includes interior finishes, casework, mechanical systems, and fire suppression. Unique building features include utilization of a geothermal well field, high efficiency mechanical units, tight air and thermal envelope around the exterior, a photovoltaic system, and AirVac system in the apparatus bay. Site work includes the emergency apparatus apron, parking and access aisles, stormwater management facilities, landscaping, fuel station facility relocation on the same site, equipment foundations, and site lighting system. Public utility connections and coordination will also be required.
