The Fifth Street Phase IV project will complete the Fifth Street infrastructure improvements begun in 2009. The project limits begin at the eastern end of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Bridge and extend to Taylor Street. The project will include the replacement of the 100+ year old water main on Fifth Street including the internal lining of the existing sanitary sewer. The project will include full depth roadway reconstruction including new sidewalks, sidewalk ramps, curbs, bus stops, retaining wall, light poles, and landscaping to refresh the streetscaping on Fifth Street. The project is to be constructed in accordance with the latest edition of the City of Lynchburg Manual of Details and Specifications and VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications.
