Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Contractor shall be capable of providing one (1) Heavy Duty multi axle minimum (30) ton boom rating greater than 33,000 lbs. GVWR or greater, tow vehicle and one (1) Light Weight tow vehicle capable of towing a Class 1 and/or 2 vehicle up to 10,000 lbs. GVWR using the established TRAA Vehicle Identification Guide at each staging location within the VDOT assigned sections of roadway maintenance. Staging locations and start time will be provided when contacted by the VDOT representative. The staging locations may be changed to meet the needs of VDOT. The payment per hour shall be for waiting at the staging location, for dispatch and removal of vehicle to first safe location. Once motorist is at safe location tow assist shall return to staging location within 45 minutes. Note: Staging locations are as follows but may be changed at VDOT discretion pending changes in events: Short Pump 95 @ Parham 64 East End Airport Located at I-85 / I-95 Split Equipment requested to report shall be solely dedicated to VDOT from the time VDOT requests the equipment to be in place until equipment is released by VDOT. While performing duties under this contract, the Contractor(s) shall not perform or offer to perform, any operations at the direction of any private individuals, firms, or corporations, using equipment being utilized under this contract. Services are primarily to assist and/or move vehicles that are stuck or otherwise impeding the flow of traffic from the Roadway, during snow, ice, hurricane, and other emergency events to the nearest safe location; however, these services may be requested to assist during other events as determined by VDOT. Note: Towing as a result of an accident may be handled by the State Police and will not be covered by this contract. All towing past a safe location is between the contractor and the motorist.
