VDOT is soliciting bids from interested firms to furnish equipment and operators to perform work for the Culpeper District. The Contractor(s) shall provide all necessary labor, supervision, equipment, tools, supplies, traffic control, and incidentals as necessary to provide “Urgent Unplanned Road Debris Clearing”, on an on-call, as needed basis. Unplanned road debris clearing is defined as the initial clearing of debris from the travel lanes in order to re-establish the (Safe) movement of traffic. Contractors shall cut, clear, pile all trees, trunks, limbs and debris located on, above or adjacent to hard or non-hard surface roadways to the edge of the shoulder a minimum of 3 feet from the edge of the road or as far back as necessary to address a hazardous condition (i.e.: spears and daggers) as directed by VDOT personnel. The Contractor shall be responsible to obtain all necessary maps and are to familiarize themselves with the areas. The Contractor is not responsible for hauling away the debris, just clearing the road so traffic can continue. This contract will be used when the District or Residency Administrator approves, in writing, an event of an unpredicted, and/or catastrophic nature, the result of which is the need for urgent roadway clearing services, or for a Governor declared State of Emergency. The quantities specified herein are estimates only and are based on history and anticipated annual usage, as these events are unknown and unplanned. No guarantee is made as to the actual usage of this contract, if any.
