Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Hampton Fleet Services is requesting Proposals for an onsite emergency equipment mechanic to provide fleet maintenance and repair services to specialized equipment. The selected vendor(s) will provide a certified emergency equipment mechanic to supplement the fleet maintenance and repair services currently being provided by the City of Hampton’s Fleet Service garage. The contract will be for a period of two years with an option to renew for up to three additional one-year periods at Fleet Services’ sole discretion. Fleet Services intends to award to one vendor, but reserves the right to award to multiple vendors.; Interested vendors must demonstrate their ability and capacity to complete a full range of services. Vendors are advised that their proposal should provide the necessary information demonstrating that they are the best suited to providing this service to the City of Hampton.; Selected vendor(s) must provide mechanic(s) with a proven comprehensive and preventative maintenance work history and meet the standards for a full utilization of standard warranty coverage. They must exemplify customer service responsiveness to maximize cost efficiencies; minimize unscheduled repairs and down time; quality service while providing mechanically sound, safe, and reliable equipment.; They must have the ability to provide routine preventative maintenance (PM) and repair services for the City of Hampton emergency equipment fleet with a focus on fire truck and ambulance maintenance equipment. Selected vendor shall provide a fulltime certified emergency equipment mechanic to work on site and who shall perform routine maintenance and specialized repair services that includes, but is not limited to, oil and lube services; tire rotation; brake work; suspension; heat/air conditioning systems; electrical systems; engine repair; and other repairs normal and customary for the maintenance of a commercial fleet. This contract can also be utilized to provide a temporary onsite part time certified emergency equipment mechanic on an as needed basis due to staffing shortages or heavy seasonal maintenance and repairs.; Selected vendor’s mechanic will use the City of Hampton’s vehicle maintenance system to complete all work to any equipment serviced and will work under the supervision of the Fleet Operations Manager or their designee. All parts and fluids will be provided by the City of Hampton. Technician will provide their own tools and agree to adhere to the City of Hampton’s standards of conduct as well as all policies established by Fleet Services.; Fleet’s hours of operation are Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The selected vendor must assure that Fleet has the option to flex time depending on work load needs and to request mechanic to work overtime as needed. Mechanic must be available to work during emergency events, such as summer and winter weather events, as Fleet is considered essential services for the City of Hampton and remains operational during times of city closure. All time off requests will be coordinated with Fleet Services and mechanic’s supervisor.
