Specifications include, but are not limited to: 5.1 The Town of Herndon is seeking the services of a Contractor located within ten miles of Herndon, Virginia capable of dry cleaning the Police Officers uniforms and performing, as needed, alterations and embroidery services. The Contractor shall offer, at a minimum, next day service on regular business days for regular dry-cleaning service (example: if items is received at 7:00 AM on Monday, it shall be ready for pick up on or before 7:00 AM Wednesday) and one (1) week for alterations and embroidery services. All items shall be clean using the latest, safest and most environmentally friendly dry-cleaning process available in today’s market. The Contractor shall inspect all uniforms to ensure all spots and odor has been removed prior to releasing the uniforms to Police Officers. 5.2 Items to be Dry Cleaned: a. Men’s long sleeve shirts b. Men’s short sleeve shirts c. Men’s pants d. Men’s shorts e. Men’s jackets f. Men’s coat g. Men’s sweaters h. Women’s long sleeve shirts i. Women’s short sleeve shirt j. Women’s pants k. Women’s shorts l. Women’s jackets m. Women’s coat n. Women’s sweaters o. Hats p. Ties 5.3 Requirements for Service A. All items to be examined for minor repairs; all open seams to be sewn. B. All open seat seams on trousers to be sewn and zippers closed to ascertain their correct operation. C. Loose or missing buttons to be tightened or replaced. D. Vendor to supply buttons to conform to existing buttons on uniforms. E. All blue uniforms to be completely de-linted with lint rollers. F. Contractor should provide a 24 hour drop box for items to be cleaned. G. Should Contractor lose or misplace uniforms, responsibility for replacement lies with Contractor. H. All items to be dry cleaned and laundered shall be done in accordance with the best standard commercial methods. I. All dry cleaning and laundering shall be handled in such a manner as to prevent undue shrinkage. J. Chemicals injurious to fabrics shall not be used. K. All workmanship shall be first class. It is intended that these specifications include everything requisite and necessary to complete finished work in every detail. All laundered and dry-cleaned items shall be delivered in first-class condition. L. All items to be dry cleaned shall be spot cleaned for stains or conditions resistant to dry cleaning solvent. M. All items and garments which the Contractor shall deem unserviceable or warranting renovation shall be returned to the agency by the Contractor. N. All items to be dry cleaned or laundered will be subject to inspection by the Police Officers, and any items showing unsatisfactory workmanship will be returned to the Contractor for necessary adjustments at no extra cost.
