Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. The Contractor shall develop an exhibit design plan for a special exhibition on Forgotten Soldier and the role that choice or lack thereof has had in their participation in the Revolutionary War. This special exhibition will be in the Changing Gallery at American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. This design plan shall serve as the guideline for the overall project. ARM@Y is located at 100 Water Street, Yorktown, VA 23690. B. The Contractor shall oversee the project from design to the opening of the exhibit. The Contractor shall coordinate site visits with the Agency’s Project Manager. The Contractorshall coordinate and cooperate with all other contractors. Contractor shall work cooperatively with agency staff and their contract vendors. C. The Contractor shall base their design on the topic of the impact that choice or lack thereof has had on African Americans during the Revolution, as well as certain key themes such as citizenship, community, perception and identity. The Agency’s curatorial staff will coordinate with the Contractor’s assigned staff for historical content. . Design services shall include, but is not limited to: 1. Schematic gallery design within a month after award; schedule and budget plan finalized during negotiations effective post award. 2. Layout of artifacts and props, reusing existing cases and portable walls. Determine if other cases need to be built for the approximately 4,500 square foot gallery. 3. Use of layout software such as SketchUp, AutoCAD or equal. Allow minimum of eight (8) working days for review by Agency. 4. Gallery design and conceptual plan, schematic, and construction documents and project manual for Bureau of Capital Outlay Management (BCOM) review and approval in preparation for separate bidding of fabrication in early fall 2018. Design firm is completely responsible for Architectural Services required to submit the plans and gaining approvals prior to fabrication being awarded. Any design changes must be fixed prior to the award to build exhibit designs. A partner architectural/engineering/electrical firm, licensed in Virginia, should be submitted with the proposal [See Section 8]. 5. Graphic design for exhibit and a promotional entry banners. Graphic design through final digital art preparations - quantity of work may include: large introductory panel, donor panel- with multiple donors; text banners/panels - perhaps 40, artifact labels for at least 60 artifacts, and 10 wall graphics.
