Specifications include, but are not limited to: The project includes interior renovations of five (5) existing courtrooms (Courtrooms 2A, 2E, and 2F of the General District Court and Courtrooms 4C and 4D of the Circuit Court), as well as the build-out of a shell-space that will become Courtroom 3J for the Juvenile Court. Renovation areas include the courtrooms, jury deliberation rooms, attorney-client rooms, audio/visual rooms, toilet rooms, and judge’s secure corridor. The scope of work includes the demolition and replacement of existing floor, wall, and ceiling finishes. The work also includes demolition and/or modifications of existing mechanical, electrical, and security systems supporting the courtrooms. New scope includes mechanical and electrical work and shall also include new high-end finishes and millwork for judge’s benches, witness stands, clerk’s stations, court reporter tables, and counsel tables, as well as the restoration of existing gallery seats. The scope further includes asbestos abatement and hazardous materials remediation/disposal. All work shall be performed after courthouse business hours and shall not interfere with the Court’s operations in adjacent courtrooms, which will remain fully functional serving the public throughout the construction duration. All workers will be required to undergo and pass a background check performed by the Sheriff’s Department of Fairfax County.
