The Work under this Project consists of the abatement and demolition of all the buildings located between the Water Street Parking Garage, Crawford Street, Columbia Street, and Water Street. The Civic Center complex was constructed circa 1970, and the J&D Courts building was added circa 1998. The complex consists of a cast-in-place concrete basement and elevated plaza level which are each approximately 100,000 SF. There are (5) buildings that are supported by the plaza level. The Police Headquarters building is constructed of structural steel with two elevated levels plus a penthouse and is roughly 28,000 square feet. The Judicial Building A building is constructed of structural steel with two elevated levels plus a penthouse and is roughly 40,000 square feet. The Judicial Building B building is constructed of structural steel with two elevated levels plus a penthouse and is roughly 17,500 square feet. The J&D Courts building is a single-story structural steel building and is roughly 10,000 square feet. The Jail building is constructed of cast-in-placed concrete with eight elevated levels plus a penthouse and is roughly 45,000 square feet. The contractor is to demolish the entire complex including the basement slab-on-grade, pile caps, basement walls, concrete ramps, and grade beams. The deep pile foundations are to be abandoned in place. The basement level will be filled and the lot will be stabilized and sloped for drainage purposes. The contractor shall remove all waste appropriately off site in accordance with all applicable laws and take care when dealing with hazardous materials. A hazardous materials survey was performed, and the report is available for reference in the project manual...
