A. General Requirements 1. Contractor shall furnish all labor, supervision, materials, equipment, and tools necessary to fabricate, deliver, and install the Chinese Gate. 2. Work must be in accordance with the attached drawings and specifications. Substitutions will not be accepted without prior written approval from the Agency. 3. All fabrication and installation shall comply with Virginia Construction & Professional Services Manual (CPSM) standards, Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code, and museum safety requirements. B. Structure Specifications 1. Overall dimensions: approximately 11’-5” high x 14’-9” wide. 2. Gate shall be fabricated in modular sections suitable for safe transport, handling, and access through museum delivery doors. 3. Primary frame shall be constructed of engineered wood and/or steel framework to provide rigidity. 4. Surface materials and decorative elements shall match details in the drawings and be finished with Class A fire-retardant coatings. 5. All adhesives, paints, and stains shall be low-VOC and compliant with museum environmental standards. 6. Anchors and fasteners shall be concealed where possible. C. Installation Requirements 1. Contractor shall deliver fabricated components to Jamestown Settlement, 2110 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185. 2. Contractor shall assemble and install the gate onsite, including: • Anchor gate securely to the ceiling and neighboring walls systems • Ensuring vertical/horizontal alignment and concealed connections. • Protection of adjacent exhibits, floors, and finishes during work. 3. Work shall be conducted during museum-approved hours. Contractor is responsible for staging, dust control, and daily cleanup.
