Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Successful Bidder shall board up and/or secure unsafe structures at various locations within the City of Roanoke, on an as needed basis. The vacant houses and other structures in most cases have sustained fire damage or have deteriorated due to age and lack of maintenance. The goal in each board up job is to cover all necessary openings to prevent entry by people, birds or animals. Prior to each board up project, the Successful Bidder will meet with a representative from the Department of Planning, Building and Development, Division of Code Enforcement (City), to get detailed instructions on how many openings and color of paint to cover. The Successful Bidder must be able respond to the designated site for review work with City designated staff within twenty-four hours of initial request. At that time the desired start and completion date will be discussed at this time. In general, the Successful Bidder should be able to begin work within one business day of this meeting. The Successful Bidder shall provide all labor, materials, equipment and incidentals necessary for the completion of boarding up and secure services of external openings for unsafe structures within the City of Roanoke. Successful Bidder shall: 1. Cut and fasten 1/2'' CDX plywood to fit snugly within all exterior openings; 2. Successful Bidder shall board up and secure openings on multiple levels, including second story and higher openings; 3. Fasten the plywood with minimum 2 1/2'' exterior screws - 8 inches on center; 4. Paint plywood so it is fully weather resistant (ONE COAT) -color will be coordinated with City staff at initial meeting; Opening shall include framed windows, framed doors and/or nonstandard openings. Nonstandard openings shall be defined as any opening that would require frame work to secure opening. For the purposes of bidding, a nonstandard opening shall not exceed the size of a standard sheet of CDX plywood (4’X8’).
