The Virginia Department of Transportation (herein referred to as “VDOT”) is soliciting bids from qualified firms to provide equipment with experienced, licensed operators to perform critical snow and ice removal services as needed on VDOT maintained Interstate routes, entrance and exit ramps, and associated detour routes in accordance with the specifications contained herein. The additional equipment will augment our current snow removal contracts when situations warrant it. VDOT will provide oversight and direction on all work performed under the resulting contract. Work will primarily be performed on an as-needed basis on Interstate routes throughout the Bristol District, as listed below, within Washington, Smyth, Wythe, and Bland Counties. During severe weather and emergency snow operations, it may become necessary to use additional equipment to clear the roads of ice and snow or respond to inclement weather. Therefore, VDOT is requesting bids for equipment to be available for use when conditions dictate a higher level of response (Augmented Snow Operations). The snow season is defined as October 1 st each year through April 30th of the following year. Augmented services included in this contract will be required on an on-call as needed basis, from the award of contract through April 30, 2026 for the initial term, and October 1 st through April 30th for subsequent terms. Payment for services will be at an Operational Rate. The Contractor(s) shall provide the snow removal equipment listed with experienced, licensed operators, fuel, tools, parts, supplies, and all incidentals as necessary for safe and efficient snow removal operation. The work will consist of, but not be limited to, snow and ice removal from VDOT maintained Interstate roadways, including all paved crossovers, entrance and exit ramps, and associated detour routes as directed by the Contract Administrator or designee.
