Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Virginia Department of Transportation (herein referred to as “VDOT”) is soliciting bids from qualified firms to provide additional equipment with experienced, licensed operators to perform snow removal service and towing during emergency snow operations (Augmented Snow Operations) in accordance with the specifications contained herein. VDOT will provide oversight and direction on all work performed under the resulting contract. Work will primarily be performed on an as-needed basis on Interstate routes throughout the Bristol District, within Washington, Smyth, Wythe, and Bland Counties. Work will encompass I-381 and I-81 from Tennessee Stateline to mile marker 87.3 (Pulaski County Line), I-77 from mile marker 41 to mile marker 67 (West Virginia Stateline), and I-77 from mile marker 33 to mile maker 24.2 (Carrol County Line). During emergency operations work may also be requested on Primary and Secondary routes throughout the Bristol District within Lee, Scott, Wise, Dickenson, Russell, Buchanan, Tazewell, Washington, Smyth, Wythe, Bland, and Grayson Counties. The Snow Season is defined as September 1st each year through April 30th of the following year.
